The Pomona Cross Country team headed south again to attend the Liberty Bell Invitational put on by Heritage High School. The Liberty Bell is know for its fast times and competitive races. Both the boys and girls of Pomona would not allow the fast times to get away from them. Of the 25 competing athletes,  there were 20 personal best times and 5 season best times.
The girls started things off with a team average time under 24 minutes. Rylie Dix ran a season best time of 22:28 to place 94th. Following Dix, breaking 24 minutes for the first time was Mary Mansfield (23:30, 113th), Ashley Basset (23:58, 114th), and Allyssa Mansfield (23:59, 114th). Closing out the scoring for the girls was Christine Mansfield (25:26, 121st), Melia McSherry (26:12, 123rd), and Amanda Gurule (26:26, 125th). The girls would come in 18th place overall. C. Mansfield and McSherry would run personal bests as well as Alyona Filatova (27:44) and Ashley Ewing (28:12).
The boys would be just shy of a sub 19 minute team average time (19:02) the boys found fast times as well. Led by Malachi Blaszkowski in 55th place with a personal best time of 17:33. Following the senior with a PR was Cody Ohlson (18:49, 95th), Cristian Buckner (19:29, 112th), Andrew Repasy (19:35, 117th), and Max Ramos (19:44, 121st). The boys would place 18th overall as well. Also running personal bests would be Thomas White (20:42), Sean Oscar (20:49), Jaren Lopez (22:09), Dylan Papini (24:44), Jacob Ulibearri (24:57), and Jordan Medina (26:11).
Both teams travel to the Broomfield Invite for Homecoming weekend on Friday, September 16th.
